HON. JOHN SIMON KELE VISITS FAMILIES OF KIDNAPPED JENTA YOUTHS, OFFERS CONDOLENCES

The Councilor representing Jenta Adamu Ward, Hon. John Simon Kele, this morning paid a condolence visit to families of the three youths kidnapped by bandits while returning home from Akure, Ondo State.

Hon. Kele was joined by the Youth Leader of Jenta Mangoro Community, Comr. Paul Barry Goni, and other concerned individuals during the visit.

Speaking with the grieving families, the Councilor sympathized with them over the sudden turn of events that led to the abduction. He described the incident as painful and unexpected, and prays that they return safe.

Hon. Kele via his Facebook handle expressed, "I want to assure the affected families that they are not alone in this difficult moment. I am full committed to working closely with Local Government Chairman, members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, security agencies, community leaders and other well-meaning individuals to explore every legitimate avenue that can contribute to the safe rescue and return of our youths". 

One of the victims’ families, the Menje’s family, recounted their ordeal during the visit. According to them, on 1st of June they received a phone call from the kidnappers. The captors first demanded ₦50 million, then reduced it to ₦10 million, and later to ₦2 million.

The three youths identified as Kweti Jonathan Menje, Habila Sunday, and Samuel were kidnapped by bandits while returning home from Kogi State on their way back to Jos from Akure, Ondo State, where they had gone on a business trip.

The vehicle conveying them was intercepted by unidentified assailants, who forcibly took them and other passengers to an undisclosed destination.

The family said they are traumatized by the uncertainty surrounding their loved one’s safety.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had not issued any official statement regarding the incident.

Prayers continue across Jenta Adamu community and Plateau at large for the safe return of all three youths and others held captives.
