To crush Computer-Based Test (CBT) fear of students in Jenta Adamu Community, Christ Royalty Children and Youth Empowerment Foundation partnered with Jenta Reads Library to host a three-day JAMB tutorial designed to boost candidates’ confidence.
The tutorial, held at Jenta Reads Library last Saturday, was led by Yelzuma Daniel Golu, Team Lead of the program, alongside other facilitators. It aimed to close the digital and psychological gaps many students face before the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Day one covered Best Exam Preparation, Understanding JAMB/UTME, CBT Techniques, and the Essence of Tertiary Education. Facilitators broke down the UTME structure, scoring system, and subject combinations, then demystified the CBT interface.
Team Lead Mr. Yelzuma Daniel Golu, said, “We’re teaching you how to take the JAMB exam with confidence and without fear."
In the program, Students were taught on JAMB navigation shortcuts, time management, how to flag questions, and how to avoid accidental submission, common mistakes that cost marks.
Other speakers, including Mr. Emmanuel Sati and Mr. Timothy Jonathan , spoke extensively on best exam preparation tips and the essence of tertiary education.

The second and third days of the program, Monday and Tuesday, were devoted entirely to full mock exams under real UTME conditions. Each student worked at a computer, racing the countdown timer while facilitators guided them through the process.
PARTICIPANTS’ REACTIONS
Tisloh Pam, a resident of Jenta Mangoro, described the program as amazing.
“The program enlightened me on how to use the computer,” he said.
“I had the privilege of operating the computer for a while, answering questions, and becoming familiar with some shortcut keys used in JAMB.”
He added that the sessions taught him that building confidence is a key factor in excelling at JAMB because it removes fear during the examination.
Similarly, Adagbo Set, a resident of Jenta Adamu, said the program had been exciting and educative from day one.
“The tutorials have been exciting and educative because I answered questions, and when I failed, I went back to cross-check,” he explained.
He added that he became aware of many things about JAMB that he did not know before.
Grace, also a resident of Jenta Mangoro, said the program was great from the first to the third day. She learned how to operate the computer, answer questions, use JAMB shortcut keys, and submit her exam.
Mary Akombo, another resident of Jenta Mangoro, called the training good and amazing because they were taught practical ways of answering JAMB exam questions. She said the training made her aware of JAMB shortcut keys and how to prepare well for her exam.
The partnership between Christ Royalty Children and Youth Empowerment Foundation and Jenta Reads Library reflects a growing push by community spaces to supplement classroom learning with practical skills.
For many students, the tutorial was their first exposure to a CBT environment before the actual Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
As the UTME has now begun, the organizers are hopeful that all participants will achieve excellent results.
